Well this is the fourth official day of my retirement. I can’t say I miss work, because I don’t. But I miss the people there. I miss coffee with my friends in the morning. It all feels a little weird. 28 years is a long time at one job. I have been working since I was 13 years old and here I am 52 years old, and I never have to work again. Well hopefully that will be the case. Time and politics will tell that.
Life since September 2018 has been interesting. So this retirement is a little strange. On the same day in September I was diagnosed with cancer and adrenal insufficiency. I started the radiation treatments for my cancer, after I had surgery, in late December. The cancer is gone, hopefully forever, and the healing is almost complete. The adrenal thing, well that is life long. It brings lot of complications to life, especially since a life of steroids is now on my plate. However, retirement will help with the adrenal thing as well. There will be a new calm in my life, which hopefully will help me feel my best in the days, weeks, and months to come.
I am lucky though. I know people who retire from one job and continue to work because….well they don’t know what to do with themselves or the more obvious thing, they don’t have medical insurance. I am lucky on both fronts. I am a military dependent, so my insurance is awesome because my husband spent 22 years defending this country. And well for what do to with myself….let me see how many hobbies to I currently have…..hunting, photography, crocheting, hiking, meditation, mindfulness, grandchildren (of which I currently have 11), my Ruby girl, websites, digital journaling, digital life books, reading, Youth Outdoors Unlimited, hunter education instructor, and all around craftswoman. Yeah Wow! I have a lot to keep me busy and entertained.
Now that I am retired and feeling so much better. I will be blogging more and hopefully will be able to take on new clients. I will be adding a digital section to my website which will contain the digital life book, recipe book and planners I have created. I will also be using my website to blog about my hunts and travels. I will be changing the way it looks. I hope you will all take this journey with me. See you soon.
